I am considering using a RPI4 2 gb instead of my RPI3B+ 1gb. I have a Aotec Z-stick gen 5 which I can read a lot of trouble in combination with the RPI4 where the solution seems to either have a USB hub or a modification on the z stick itself. As I don’t have the skills to make the modification I am stuck with the hub, or is an extension cable actually enough?
I have been running a Gen 5 on my Pi4 for over a year now with no issues. I use a 1M USB extension and have it plugged into one of the USB2 ports. Mine is the new Gen5 though, best to check what variant you have.
I would suppose mine would be the “old” one, since it was bought in 2018. So it seems like a cable might not be enough, but an actual hub is required.
