Aeotec Z-Stick Gen 5

I might try a manual install later, but I donā€™t know when.

Darn, strange stuff.

Iā€™ll be trying the AIO this evening.

Iā€™ll report back with any issues.

No luck with the Hassbian myself.

I have an SD card that I run a Dakboard instance off of, and I initially installed the first few steps of HASS just for tests thinking Iā€™d break the SD and although I didnā€™t get to the Zwave portion, I was surprised at how simple the installation was, never breaking the OS, actually running Dakboard and HASS without issue; I figured this would be a breeze.

Yes, please, please post back what you find and how it goes. At this point I am dead in the water more or less until I can figure out what is going on.

I wonā€™t be able to start until this evening, but my Dakboard is running on the NOOBS OS, which is what at least installed the first few steps of HASS without issue. Although this was with the manual install.

I might try and install the rest of the manual steps later to see how it goes on that OS but will likely start with the AIO on the Raspbian image from here:

I might start with the NOOBS first but weā€™ll see.

Iā€™ll be sure to update.

I see that the Raspbian Jessie is what you were trying, but Iā€™ll still report back with my revelations.

If your attempting to use the AIO installer on theRaspberry Pi 3, you may be seeing a known issue and should try this  it fixed the installer for me on the latest Pixel release

Once its installed you need to fix mosquito in configuration.yaml before Home Assistant will boot

Currently trying this on an RPi B+ I believe it is.

Thank you sir, very much appreciated. I will start over again and see how it all goes.

So I reinstalled everything using the AIO and steps given in the thread linked to by @noodlemctwoodle and after commenting out the mqtt broker information, HA worked. Though I have yet to try the Open ZWave yet, but at least HA works and it auto starts on boot up.

@StormStrikes Iā€™ve yet to receive my zwave kit, Iā€™m hoping santa will bring me some aeon labs Gen5 sensors and the Gen5 USB stick. So if you find any issues please share as Iā€™m just getting started on Home Assistant too

@noodlemctwoodle I will do so. If I recall when I had HA set up before and experimenting with it, I didnā€™t have too many issues with the devices themselves, small stuff mostly that did not really affect overall functionality.

But now that HA supports reading from a Vera hub, which I have, I will pull in my devices from that and see how it all goes and see if there are any functionality issues and report back.

Do you have the two files generated by OZWCP in your .homeassistant directory, named something like zwcfg_0x12345678.xml and zwscene.xml?

Yes sir, I do.

Does your config_path directory have stuff in it? Mine looks like this:

Any update here, did any of you guys manage to solve it? Have the same issueā€¦

Edit: ended up running the AIO setup and itā€™s working.

Hello Sebastian,

I installed Home Assistant with Docker Imageā€¦
I try the ā€œpython -m homeassistant --config /config --script check_configā€
and return : ā€œ/usr/local/bin/python: No module named homeassistantā€

Could you say me why ?
I try to install the Aeotec Z-Stick Gen 5 too

Thank you !

From outside the docker container, I use this:
docker exec -ti hass python -m homeassistant --config /config --script check_config

(this is assuming your container name is hass - otherwise change it to ... exec-ti <your_container_name> ...)

Sebastian

I retry and :

Thank you sebk-666

USB Stick is well at /dev/ttyACM0
but other parameters (config_path, polling and autoheal), where can i find values ?

I try with your config but donā€™t work

Thank you

The config check only checks the configuration for correct syntax.
You can still have a syntactically correct, but wrong configuration.
What does your zwave config look like?

Mine is:

zwave:
  usb_path: /dev/ttyACM0
  config_path: /usr/src/app/build/python-openzwave/openzwave/config/
  polling_interval: 60000
  autoheal: true

When starting the container, you have to enable access to the zwave stick by specifying the device on the command line with docker run ... --device=/dev/ttyACM0 ... (your device may have a different name).

Sebastian
