I would like to replace all of the wall plugs in my flat (there must be about 20 of them) with Home Assistant compatible ones.
Please note I am not looking for a switch like Shelly where you install the component behind the existing plug. I am looking for a complete plug that has wifi capabilities out of the box.
I use a couple of these ones, because they can be flashed with tasmota and they’re rated for 16A. They have power monitoring and cost onlt 10 euro’s and change
Thank you very much. I have some Sonoff ones that are similar to these too, but I am looking to replace the wall plugs. Not to put a plug like this on top of another plug that is on the wall.
You could take a look at the Tradri line from Ikea, here in the Netherlands they are €9,99 each (which make them effectively cheaper than the sonoff s20/s26 I use myself) plus if they are on stock you don’t have to wait weeks for AliExpress to deliver them.
I do have to mention that you need the Ikea Hub and a remote (don’t ask why you need the remote, but as it is now it is the only way to pair devices to the hub) so this would drive the cost up significantly. But you might already have this and then this would be the cheapest solution.
If you don’t have a hub you could go the Zigbee2mqtt route. These wall switches are supported (as are most Ikea Tradfri devices).
Here is the link to the Dutch page (at least it gives you an indication of what it looks like)
I got a few of these and these when I was moving, since I thought I was going to do something similar. Now they’re just lying around, waiting for some use.
You can also get them with one gang.
If you just replace the switch part, but keep the old plug part, I guess they could work? The last one is z-wave, but the first one is a sonoff, so has wifi. Just keep in mind that they’re “only” rated for up to 600W; I’m not sure about the max load for the z-wave ones.
I also looked at these, but figured that I wouldn’t change the wall plugs, and never ordered them.
If you’re into zigbee and/or xiaomi, there are these, that can take up to 2500W.
I would try to look for something not too cheap though. I have been researching something smart for a car charging switch/plug, and I’ve seen some nasty pictures of e.g. sonoff that have melted, even under significantly lower loads than they were rated for. If you plan to put these everywhere inside you home, I’d probably try aiming for high quality over low price. Or get a bunch of smoke alarms, and check if your insurance covers cheap chinese wall plugs smashed into the walls catching fire… Just in case.
