Using SSH addon: SSH & Web Terminal
I use apk to install sshpass because I wish to do some SSHing without private keys, etc.
When I restart HA, my installed packages are gone.
Can anyone explain this?
Bit of a problem, since I also want to install a package for double NAT - to host HA publicly…
That’s expected behaviour, everything you install in the container will be wiped after a restart of the host or an update of Home Assistant.
After an update, yes, because you use a new image, but the installed apk will (or should) stick after a plain restart inside HA, or a “Restart Core” from the supervisor.
Yes, that’s correct. I’m talking about a restart of the host, edited my post accordingly.
Actually, a reboot does not reset the container, either,.
I just tested, just to be sure that the supervisor wouldn’t do something peculiar, but it doesn’t.
So, no one can tell me why my VM installed HA Supervisor looses whatever I install once I restart Core? Not even the host system?
Please describe in details the step you took to install the apk, and the steps behind what you mean by “restart Core”.
