HELP! Yesterday, April 10th 2021 I had a few updates I needed to install. Updates that were released in de past week I guess. I can’t even remember the updates that showed up, but one of them was the Core update. However, after running the two updates, my Home Assistant won’t start anymore. I have it running directly on an Intel NUC, which was working great before. After the boot screen, it just stops and doesn’t start Home Assistant. It attempts to restart every few minutes automatically, but without luck. What happened here and how can I get it to start Home Assistant again.
Analyze the logging output …
Where can I find the logging output? Because I can’t even access the Intel NUC at all. I can only access the BIOS from the NUC
And there is nothing printed on screen?
Nope, unfortunately not.
If you are upgrading to 2021.4.X from a previous major release, it will perform a database conversion during the upgrade process. While the conversion is underway, Home Assistant will not be accessible.
The time it takes to complete the conversion depends on the size of your database. Some users have reported it can take many hours.
If you are not upgrading from a previous major release, then you are experiencing a different issue. Does the NUC respond to a ping? Are you able to use SSH to connect to the NUC? Are you using Home Assistant OS or Home Assistant Supervised?
Thanks for your response. I had the update running for several hours (even a whole day in the meantime) but no luck so far. Therefore I don’t think it’s a database issue. I can not ping the NUC and can not use SSH because on the NUC I’m only running Home Assistant Supervised and don’t have any other software or OS running on the NUC. I also even unplugged any attached hardware, such as mouse, keyboard and Zwave USB stick. No response at all. The screen stays fully black. The only thing I can do is access the BIOS and after closing the BIOS screen, the screen stays black and the NUC is not responding to any command anymore
Sounds like the NUC can’t find its hard-drive (or SSD) to boot the operating system.
