After upgrading 5.8 NUC won't boot

After upgrading to 5.8 the computer no longer boots. I plugged it into an external screen and realised that as soon as I power it up, it goes straight to the BIOS settings. I tried all different options for booting, but it just won’t boot. Keeps on saying “insert bootable media”.

I was ready to start a new installation and when I plugged in a USB drive to install HA it actually booted. The computer didn’t start the installation process (some odd reason not sure why) but the interesting thing is that it just normally booted into my existing HA installation (relief).

The odd thing is that if I remove the USB flash drive it won’t boot anymore. It needs to have that flash drive plugged in to boot normally. I’m sure there may be a ton of different reasons why this is happening that are specific to my machine (Intel NUC i5) but this only started happening after the upgrade.

So you solved it by plugging a second usb drive? What was the content of this?
I am facing the same issue with my nuc.

Upgrading to 5.8 or from 5.8 to 5.9?

If it was 5.9 this issues might be relevant:

It was after upgrading to 5.8.

I’ve since then tried to upgrade to 5.9 but it just errors when I try to do it. The system seems to reboot to upgrade. Once the UI is accessible again this is what the host logs show:

After upgrade to 5.9
Thank you for your hint but hassos boot was ok. need to do a freh installation.
