Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on an AI-driven behavioral tracking system designed to recognize trauma patterns, predict spirals before they happen, and proactively intervene based on biometric and environmental data. Now, I’m looking to integrate it with Home Assistant to take it to the next level.
What I’m Building:
I’ve developed an AI system that tracks emotional and behavioral patterns over time, mapping spirals, trauma responses, and daily fluctuations to provide real-time interventions based on past and present data. The AI already:
Recognizes emotional patterns & spirals through text-based tracking.
Uses emoji-based microtracking for shorthand emotional check-ins.
Logs major trauma markers & long-term behavior shifts.
Processes historical event logs to anticipate breakdowns before they happen.
What I Want to Achieve with Home Assistant:
I want to bridge smart home automation with AI-driven trauma tracking so my home system can recognize behavioral & physiological warning signs and notify me before a full shutdown, spiral, or panic event occurs.
Example Use Cases:
Movement Tracking: If I haven’t moved for 6+ hours, AI prompts a check-in (“Ryan, you haven’t moved all day. Are you zoning out?”).
Location-Based Triggers: If I travel to a place tied to past trauma (ex: visiting my ex), AI recognizes this pattern and reminds me to mentally armor up before going.
Heart Rate Monitoring: If my HR spikes & movement stops, AI flags a possible panic or freeze response and suggests grounding techniques.
Seasonal Depression Tracking: AI cross-references mood patterns with weather station data to preemptively recognize seasonal affective disorder shifts.
TV & Sleep Monitoring: If I start binge-watching TV for 6+ hours with no movement, AI recognizes a shutdown response and suggests a pattern break.
The Home Assistant Integration Plan
The goal is to build a seamless automation pipeline where:
Home Assistant logs (heart rate, movement, sleep, location, etc.) → Webhooks → Auto-updated
.docx
log file.
AI reads that log during daily processing to track behavioral trends & spiral markers.
Home Assistant sends real-time notifications when certain trauma-based triggers are met.
AI provides proactive interventions based on past patterns + current data.
Current Challenges & Questions:
Best way to structure logs for AI-friendly processing? (JSON, structured text?)
Most efficient method to push logs into a
.docx
(LibreOffice) or database file via Node-RED?
Webhook vs. MQTT for sending structured Home Assistant data into AI processing?
Has anyone already built anything similar, or does this require a custom integration?
Why This Matters:
This isn’t just about “tracking data.” This is about creating a mental health-aware smart home that sees patterns, anticipates spirals, and helps intervene before things collapse.
I know this is outside the normal scope of Home Assistant discussions, but I also know this community is full of some of the smartest automation minds in the world. If anyone has ideas, experience, or even theories on how to bridge AI with Home Assistant for real-time behavioral tracking, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
This could be the start of a completely new way to use smart home automation—not just for convenience, but for personalized, proactive mental health support.
Thanks in advance—I’ll be checking back often!
