I experienced this problem a few times today. After looking at the errors and doing some Google searches I ran this command before trying the HA installer (after the “sudo apt-get update” and “sudo apt-get upgrade”):

sudo apt-get install libffi-dev

Running the HA installer still failed and based on those messages I also ran

sudo apt-get install libssl-dev

While I still received some warnings, the HA install progressed. It asked me for my password and continued. It is still progressing now.

I’ll update in the morning.

any luck with the new install?

Still no success. Windows machine that I was using for PuTTy rebooted during the night. Log file didn’t show an error at end. Rebooting RaspPI did not start HA.

This worked for me on a new RPI3 and fresh install - thanks!

@Charles_Brown - thanks - the link you sent me put me on track - the extra installs they had in there got me going.

Thanks!
