Alert component triggers action instead of only notification

Hello,

whats the reason why the alert component only works with notifications. Why not use an action like in automations? Doing so would allow to do a notification, but as well open whole lot of additional space like scripts and tts over alexa.

Can you use an event trigger monitoring for the notification?
