Hey everyone,
I also searched for it already and have to know if this is true. Does emulated_hue not work anymore with the latest Amazon Echo models?
I recently added the latest Echo Dot (3rd generation) to my smart home and right after that it seems like Alexa can’t find my emulated hue lights anymore. They still work inside my Logitech Harmony Hub, so I believe it is an Alexa problem. I also tried just disconnecting the latest model and rediscovering the emulated lights but Alexa can’t find them anymore.
I updated to the latest Home Assistant firmware but I still have the issue… Is the paid cloud solution the only way to reactivate it for current devices? Or is there anything else I can do?
I don’t have a new alexa, but i still use emulated hue. I’m on the latest build. Can you verify that home assistant still outputs the json properly? Do you have any name conflicts?
Yeah, also, i believe there is a limit on like 60 items that can be transmitted through emulated hue. The limit is actually because we are using hue to emulate the process. The hue hub only allows 60 or so devices, if you have more than that, it might cause problems in alexa.
It seems that there’s some debate about this issue, but I saw it happening at my home. When you have multiple alexas/dots, one of then acts like the “master” one when it comes to discover/talk to hue like devices. You said you disconnected the new one, so there’s only one dot active? Did you tried to reboot it?
I have an Echo Plus (1st gen), Echo (2nd gen), the new Echo Dot and a disconnected Echo Dot 2nd gen that was replaced by the new one just mentioned. I rebooted them all but maybe your onto something… Maybe it was the disconnected Dot after all as a “master”. I will investigate. At the moment I am running the cloud trial which obviously works, but emulated_hue was a great local source actually. I’d pay the $5/month, but at the same time I don’t need it because the old method worked great and stable for me.
