Alexa Becoming Sentient?

Last night I had fallen asleep on the couch as I waited for my boys to get home. At 1am I woke up because the lights were on. I had left a couple of them on dim red, just to make it easy for the boys, but when I woke up everything was on full brightness. I don’t think any colors changed, but some of the ones I had off were set to white, so it was nice and bright to wake me up.

I didn’t think much of it, as I was a bit groggy, but I got out my phone and turned them back off and set only the middle light to on. About 10 seconds later they turned back on, and then 5 seconds later all the lights turned off.

I took a look at the logbook, and saw that Alexa had done it, so I turned of the Alexa voice assistant toggle, and went to bed. I looked at it again this morning, and there were a bunch of requests back to back from Alexa for ReportState for the lights in just that area, and then a bunch of requests to turn all of the lights in that area on multiple times with only a second or two between the requests. Then finally I see the single command to turn each of the lights off in the area before Alexa stopped sending requests. (Though I then also disabled it shortly afterwards.)

Does anyone have any clue what is going on? It’s disturbing that Alexa would do this with no one making and voice command requests. I’ve checked with each person in the house, and everyone was either asleep or gone. Plus, with how fast they came in, I don’t see any physical way that someone could be doing it by voice anyway. Is some part of the system compromised? I just don’t know where else to turn right now.
