Alexa Media Player now repeatedly requesting to reauthenticate

HA 2025.2.4, with Alexa integration 5.4.0. It’s been working fine, but last day it needs to reauthenticate every couple of hours. Re-auth works fine, including 2FA.

Anyone else having this?

I have this too. It’s authenticated fine with the authenticator app but every couple of days Amazon sends me a OTP by text several times and then it works for a couple of days. Very vexing. Don’t think there’s currently a maintainer for this integration though.

This is fully resolved with recent releases. You can’t use sms-based OTP. Refer to the integration documentation.

Of AMP? There’s nothing in the docs to suggest this fix, and I don’t use SMS authentication. I use the Authenticator app, per the documentation and per my previous post. Amazon has started sending SMS but not through any change I made.

For me I was unable to change the method of 2FA so I had to delete 2FA then enable it again but using an Authenticator App.

So that’s where all the Amazon OTP requests are coming from…

Quite same issue : every time I restaart home assistant amazon alexa sends me 3 or 4 sms for the authentication token . but , anyway , it is working correctly also without doing anything.

If you’re getting SMS two factor tokens then you likely don’t have it configured per the documentation. See the link that @auditdata provided a couple of comments up.

omg thank you. I had no idea I had to do this. Read the f’n manual, I guess. Never had to do 2FA with AMP before. It was so frustrating not knowing why I had to reauthenticate 5x per day.

Which authenticator app do you use ?
I used successfully google authenticator for some months and it suddenly stopped working for my Amazon account. No reason for failure, just an infinite spinning wheel.
I had to switch to SMS 2FA which works with Amazon, but raises issues with alexa mediaplayer.
