Hi all, just thought you should be aware that you can addalexa straight on your device running home assistant, and although it’s not directly related to HA, I thought it might be good to spread the the word, the article I read was https://dzone.com/articles/how-to-add-alexa-to-a-raspberry-pi
@CaptainComedy Thanks a lot for the share Suggestions for some mic to use for it ? or some that can be used remotely ? my Raspberry is in my technical closet ! Would need Alexa in living room…
I’m guessing any multi directional usb mic into the pi would work - not sure about drivers though… that could potentially open up another can of worms
@CaptainComedy I would prefer something on network considering distances between PI and my living room and network mic would mean perhaps capability to get Alexa easily in multiple rooms !!
I would imagine that is both entirely possible and scaleable if a network mic is cheaper than an alexa
That said, feedback might be difficult unless you have multiroom speakers also
Yep but use one Raspberry PI for each room I need Alexa is not the cheapest also ! What did you use as mic/speaker that fits well with PI ? and works well if possible
@CaptainComedy Let me just add some info to your topic.
I used simplified installation of alexa on my HA raspberry - AlexaPi project.
Just for fun I also played with R2D2 voice for alexa as described on https://xubecblog.wordpress.com/2017/05/22/r2d2-assistant-with-raspberrypi/.
In case of keyword recognition problems I’d recommend to use showboy component instead of default pocketsphinx.
