Alexa Routine Not Triggering

I’ve setup a routine in the Amazon Alexa App which when I manually play it it works but when the sensor is triggered it doesn’t seem to trigger the routine even though the device is showing the right status in the Alexa app.

Here is the routine. It simply checks if the snack cupboard door sensors status is changed to open (from closed) and then triggers an Alexa announcement so we know the kids have gone in without asking.

When I go to devices in the Alexa app the sensor changes from closed to open as I open the door. However the routine which I’ve set to trigger when this changes to open doesn’t seem to run as Alexa doesn’t do the announcement.

Any ideas? I’ve setup Alexa & Home integration using this really helpful video (https://youtu.be/Ww2LI59IQ0A?si=KC3scVkZRKWM5yOr) which basically uses Amazon AWS & Alexa Developer Console to integrate all your home assistant devices into Alexa without the NabuCasu cloud solution.

Now all the devices are showing in Alexa ideally I’d like to create routines in home assistant and use Alexa as a voice announcer but not sure if this is possible as Alexa doesn’t show as a device so I’ve assumed (please correct me if this is a wrong assumption) that I need to create routines in the Alexa app to be able to announce to Alexa.

You will need to install the Alexa Media Player custom integration to being able to do that.

Thanks. I’ve not installed that Alexa media player integration as I thought it was no longer working and not supported?

Using the method I’ve done so far should the routines I create in the Alexa app be working ok given the devices all show up and respond correctly in the Alexa app?

My routine in the Tuya app for a wifi sensor that annonced to Alexa has stopped working since doing all this too. Assuming that isn’t a coincidence but not sure how to start troubleshooting or resolving it
