All temperature sensors (suddenly) not updating (RFXTRX)

Hi all,

I am out of idea’s how to troubleshoot this problem further. So I really hope someone an point me in the right direction!

I am running HAOS on VMWare Esxi

Everything regarding HA is up to date:

  • Core 2024.6.4
  • Supervisor 2024.06.2
  • Operating System 12.4
  • Frontend 20240610.1

The problem:

I have 3 433mhz temperature sensors around the house that have been working for years with the RFXTRX integration and a RFXtrx433E tranceiver.

Since June 7th all 3 sensors stopped working receiving updates at the same time.
As the sensordata was still visible (but not updating) I just found out a week ago that this is a problem.

All other devices (Somfy sunscreens, KlikAanKlikUit plugs) are still working…

What I have done to resolve this issue:

  1. Reboot ESXi, and all VM’s
  2. Removed 1 sensors from the rfxtrx integration and configured the auto add option in rfxtrx.
  3. Started debug logging to see if the tranceiver picks up send and receive signals. It does receive KlikAanKlikUit signals, but the temperature sensors are not seen.
  4. I have disconnected the RFXTRX tranceiver and plugged it in to my windows machine. in RFXMNGR the updates of the temp sensors are visible.
  5. I have updated the firmware of the tranceiver to the latest version.

Still the problem remains the same… What could be the cause of this issue?

are you able to reset/reboot the temperature sensors?
or remove the batteries for 10sec?

There is only one button on the device to change channels. In the meantime I have replaced the batteries.

I don’t think it’s related to the sensors. As my windows pc with the same transceiver is able to receive the signals from the sensors

6 weeks later… I have finally fixed the issue… I have tried to swtich USB ports but it did not resolve the problem… Finally I compared the protocols activated in RFXMGR on windows and the protocols in HA. These were different. As soon as I activated the HIDEKI protocol in HA the temp sensors started to update again. I am still a bit lost how this got disabled…
