Allow the retention of commented out code in Lovelace cards

I use the code editor of Lovelace quite often still. Maybe I’m alone in this…

Adding ‘#’ the the start of a line in the code of a card does have the desired effect of greying it out, but upon saving and reopening the card code all such lines have been removed.

This would be vary useful to add/remove more complex card features as desired.

It has been explained in previous requests that dashboard cards in storage mode are saved as json and json does not support comments.

If you want extensive comment support use YAML mode.
