Etcher just doesn’t work on windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit, I tried both. Application does not start and I really don’t want to put the time into fixing it, I’d just like to get started with Hass.io.

Thanks! I actually ended up going a different route. For anyone interested:
I used 7-zip to extract the .img file from the .img.bz2 file.
I used Win32 Disk Imager to mount the image onto my micro sd card.
Both softwares are free, just has an extra step.
Hopefully this will help some of the other win 7 users.
I had an issue with etcher, it refused to open.
Then I used RUFUS https://rufus.ie/ and in less than 5 mins Hassio was flashed on my SD card.
Rufus is simpler and faster than Etcher IMO
