Amazon Echo and Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1 in one system

Hello from Vienna,

my HA is running well but my daughter wants to get some gimmicks at your room. For instance she wants to switch the light with the mobile or with voice control.

My Idea is to use a zigbee smart switch (ZBEE mini extreme) and an Amazon Echo (latest generation with hub) for her wishes. This can be used also for further ideas from her side…

As I’m using at my Odroid N2 the HA Connect ZBT-1 to connect Zigbee with the Zigbee Home Automation integration, I would like to know whether both -the Amazon hub and my HA system- can be used at both systems without any interference.

Thx
Rudi

Hi @Valsi

If you want to control a zigbee device with HA and Amazon Alexa then, you will need to connect the zigbee device to HA and then expose it to Amazon Alexa. The eisiest way is by subscribing to HA Cloud from Nabu Casa.

It is not possible to pair a zigbee device to two zigbee networks at the same time. Nor is it possible to have two zigbee coordinators controlling the same zigbee network. You can either have HA paird with the zigbee device or Alexa paired with the zigbee device - not both.

You could pair the zigbee device with Alexa but, then you would not be able to expose it to HA.
