It never processed requests locally. It always sent the text of the request to the server, and now it will also always send the audio as well (which you were able to opt out of, losing some features).
This makes sense, since they’re transitioning to more powerful models that require full server-side handling, including the voice audio.
Agreed. The audio is generated in the cloud.
