Hi,
Amazon announced that the dash buttons are going to stop working August 31, 2019. I want to know if there is a way to use Home Assistant to replace those handy little buttons to order Amazon products.
Note: there are a lot of posts regarding using the physical Dash Button device to issue commands to Home Assistant, essentially turning the devices into smart buttons. This is NOT about that. I am wondering about using Home Assitant to issue commands to Amazon (purchasing common items from Amazon.com) using the Virtual Dash Button Service click for more info
I have thought about using those dash buttons as smart buttons to do my bidding, but never got around to it. And I ended up loving the simplicity of ordering items exactly when I need it at the push of a button. Also, since our home has Google Home appliances instead of Alexa the voice command ordering won’t work for us.
It didn’t take long to wonder if I could get even more functionality and flexibility by adding it to Home Assistant. That way I could use whatever voice assistant to talk to Home Assistant and get the same result. Or I could press a button in the Lovelace UI. Or I could come up with some complex automation to order items when needed without having to think about it. Need I say more.
Vote if you like the idea.
