Ambient light sensor on a hacked door sensor?

Hi,

I need one little light sensor and the cheapest single lightsensor was a Xiomi for 20$ which is a bit steep.

In the forum I found lots of guides on how to build one yourself with an ESP board an standard light sensors, which sound perfect, but maybe saves 5$.

But I wonder if there isnt an even cheaper option, namely hacking doosensor.
I recently came across a tutorial that used a door sensor, cut off the hall sensor and soldered a thin film pressure sensor on, that had the same resistance as the original hall sensor, and therefore could be used as an almost drop in replacement.

I wonder if someone has every tried just soldering a light sensor (or other sensor) into a doorsensor?
One would basically only need to check what resistance the door sensor needs to trigger a closed door state and match the new sensor to that…

Cheer.
