I run a small studio with nine Amaran lights, and for a long time the only way to drive them was the Amaran app. I wanted them in Home Assistant like every other light in the house: on a dashboard, in scenes, on a voice assistant. So I built amble-home, and it has run my studio since late October. It went public yesterday.
What it is. ESPHome firmware for an ESP32-S3 or ESP32-C6 board. The board joins your existing Amaran Bluetooth mesh as one more node, and your lights appear in Home Assistant as ordinary lights: on/off, brightness, color temperature, color, and green/magenta where the fixture has it. State is read back every 15 seconds, so Home Assistant follows what you do in the Amaran app too. Once they are HA lights, Alexa, Google Home and Siri come for free.
Setup takes about ten minutes, with nothing installed on a computer:
- Open the installer page in Chrome or Edge, plug in the board, press Install. Join Wi-Fi from the same dialog.
- Open the box’s own page, sign in to your Amaran account (or hand it the desktop app’s database), tick the fixtures this box should control, Save.
- Home Assistant discovers the box as an ESPHome device. Your lights are there.
What it deliberately does not do. It never pairs, provisions or removes lights. The Amaran app stays the only place you set up fixtures; amble-home just follows the mesh you already have. Effects, presets, gels and pixel control stay in the app. Scenes in HA cover the looks you want to recall.
Fixtures. Eight models are proven in my studio and on the bench (100d, 150c, Ace 25c, B7c bulb, T2c and T4c tubes, P60c, Verge Max). Every Sidus-mesh light speaks the same commands, so the Lights page lists another 72 models as expected to work from the app’s own capability tables, and 14 as unknown. If you have one of those, I would love a report either way.
Boards. Five have run the whole path (an S3 N16R8 devkit, Freenove ESP32-S3, M5Stack ATOMS3 Lite, Seeed XIAO ESP32S3, Waveshare ESP32-C6). Any S3 or C6 with 8 MB of flash and native USB should work; the classic ESP32, S2 and C3 will not.
Updates arrive as an Update entity in Home Assistant, like any other device.
Honesty about how it was built. I own the product, the design, the hardware, and every decision; Claude writes and maintains the code, with cross-model review from Codex on anything that touches keys, the import page or releases. That working agreement is written down in the repo, in the open. The mesh knowledge builds on wesbos’s reverse-engineering work on GitHub.

Questions and bug reports welcome, here or on the issues page. Please never post your mesh keys, your amaran.db or your Amaran password anywhere; nothing I would ask for needs them.
