Android App unable to access Home Assistant after password change

Hi, I have Home Assistant installed and running, it is accessible using a Let’s encrypt certificate via a reverse proxy, this is accessible remotely from laptops and FireFox on my phone.
Prior to making this accessible I have a rather weak password, once I made HA accessible, I changed to a stronger password and enabled 2FA.

Once I did this, the Android app can no longer log into Home Assistant, if I change my password back to the same weak password it works.

I have reset the app as per articles in Home Assistant KBs (clearing the data & cache), the application just returns web page not available.
with URL information and the error net:ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

If I am on the LAN the application can connect locally, I can then add the external URL, but once you leave the LAN, the external URL does not work.

There are no failed logon attempts on Home Assistant.

HA version 2023.11.1

HA companion: 2023.12.2-Full

did you make sure to login with actual credentials and not using something like trusted network?

No always using username and password to log in, I am not trusting the network blindly, I have children!
I also am able to access remotely using a browser with username/password and have 2FA enabled which is functional.
