Android app won't work with mobile data

Massive noob question here sorry!

I setup HASS today on a Raspberry Pi and everything was a breeze and is working brilliantly on my laptop and also my Android phone via the app on my home wifi.

But the app only works when i am on my home wifi… I just left home and tried to use the app with 4G data but i got the ‘can’t connect’ message.

Am I doing anything wrong? Have I forgot to change a setting or something?

I have a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite phone running Android 10

You need to set up remote access, as mentioned in the companion docs.

Either cloud, or yourself with port forwarding, SSL, and your chosen DNS provider (eg DuckDNS).
