Android auto messing up owntracks

Hey i have owntracks installed and working great. The problem is when I plug my phone into my car it goes into Android auto mode and my GPS starts reporting that I’m at the dealership I purchased the car from. I have the onstar $20 unlimited 4g Lte Hotspot in the car that we use. Not sure if that may be messing stuff up.

Any help would be appreciated.

It’s not Android Auto that’s causing it, I suspect that the problem is that when it starts doing it’s location detection, it detects the WiFi hotspot, and that was previously observed to (and hence geo-located to) the dealership. If you give it a moment for the GPS to kick in that should correct itself.

I see very similar things when on trains in the UK, with the train’s WiFi service.

Any ways to possibly make owntracks only use the phones GPS and not the Hotspot GPS?

The problem has nothing to do with owntracks, it’s the phone’s geolocation capabilities. Make sure you’ve turned on High Accuracy or Device Only and not Battery Saving.
