Android mobile app - local and external access?

I currently have the Android app installed on my phone for trying it out. When I started it I put a local IP address in.

My question is would it work using an external duckdns address?
If so, how do I get the app to forget my current settings - I have tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it but it seemed to remember all my onboarding details.

It is probably Google and its backup who remember the settings. Try to clear the app storage in settings instead of uninstalling it.
