[ANNOUNCEMENT] Grid Connect Integration for Home Assistant — Direct Device
Connection!
Note: This project is still a work in progress! There may be bugs, and certain features may not be fully implemented yet. Your patience and feedback are greatly appreciated as I continue to develop and improve the integration.
Hello Home Assistant Community!
I’m excited to introduce a new integration that I’ve been working on: Grid Connect Integration for Home Assistant. This project allows you to connect your Grid Connect devices directly to Home Assistant without relying on third-party integrations or cloud services.
What is it?
This integration provides a seamless way to control your Grid Connect devices directly from Home Assistant. No more workarounds or complicated setups — just a straightforward solution for integrating your devices into your smart home.
Features:
Direct connection between Grid Connect devices and Home Assistant
No need for other integrations or external services
Easy setup through your Home Assistant instance
Local control for better performance and reliability
Feedback & Contributions:
I’m eager to hear your thoughts! Whether it’s feature requests, bug reports, or general feedback, please feel free to contribute via GitHub or reply to this post. I’m looking forward to improving the integration based on your suggestions.
I just wanted to let you know that you can easily connect Grid Connect devices to Home Assistant by using the Tuya app and not the Grid Connect app to add your devices. Then use the Tuya / LocalTuya integration in HA.
I have this working with Brilliant Smart, Mirabella Genio and Energizer.

You should update the link in your original post also as that is where you create all the excitement, rather than having to dig down in the thread to find the updated link. It’s pretty easy to edit comments
I’m taking a look at this now to see if it is worth getting any Grid Connect devices.
Most of them seem to be made by Arlec or Detta here, which are not the highest quality brands, so it may not be worth while for me as my smart home is designed for reliability not experimenting, but I am always willing to have a look around
People using Grid Connect products, how have you found them as far as reliability, performance and build quality?
Well you put it that way I suppose it is.
Failures occurred after 3 years of continuous operation in an outdoor or moist environment.
For the price and period of service, low cost of ownership.
One may be fixable.
I am slowly converting everything over to my Zigbee Network, where I can find a product to do so.
1. Arlec Outdoor Garden Lights
Spent entire life outdoors
1 out of 3 has gone into a zombie state as it is too far away from a strong WIFI Signal
Lights still work but no connection with SmartLife App or Local-Tuya
This one may be fixable to delete and re-pair with SmartLife App
2. Arlec Outdoor Single Adaptor (with power monitoring)
Spent entire life outdoors
No connection with Tuya Cloud or Local-Tuya
Not responding to Manual input (has a blue and red light showing)
Won’t re-pair with SmartLife App or Local-Tuya
She’s dead Jim!
2. Arlec Powerboard 5 Socket
Spent entire life in bathroom, with high power draw appliance like hair driers and straighteners
Mercator Ikuu have some ZigBee products also, and they have a 3 year warranty. Of course, you need to have them installed by a sparky for hardwired devices as the must have a certificate of safety to be legal in Australia, which means you void your warranty if you diy anyway, because it’s illegal in Australia to do that. But I have used (and had properly installed) a few Ikuu devices and they do seem reliable, but are not as cheap as Arlec.
These all seem to work out of the box with ZHA and Z2M.
Power boards and the like can be tricky to find with power monitoring built in. Not a huge choice with them.
I do find wifi devices seem more likely to fail than ZigBee. Maybe just been unlucky. Just my experience
I just put a post in Australian Certified Hardware, asking some questions about Mercator Ikuu products.
In my experience Zigbee does seem to be much more reliable than WiFi, I run a Unifi WiFi Network at home as well.
