Any ex-homee user here to share their switching experience?

Hello forum,

I have been using the “homee” smarthome hub for 6 years or so now and it served me well with my zoo of 35 z-wave and zigbee devices. But I am beginning to sense decline. And there are still annoying bugs, the app has never been good.

Hence, I am looking for an alternative !

Has any user here switched over from homee and can share their story?

Cheers

Hi,
Welcome to the HA community!

I’ve never used Homee software, however did switch over from openHAB to HA some years ago. There are several posts on my migration experience, and advice to others switching over that might help with moving from another platform as there’s lots of links with tips:

If this helps, this post!

Hello!

I switched some years ago, as the homee system wasn’t matching my requierements on supported devices.

I started bringing up HA and used some new devices there. After that it was a quick move to migrate the other ones one by one with new logic to HA.

I looked how I realized the automations in homee and rebuilt them in HA with the more and better options on doing this without workarounds. Today you can do all the things as you did it in homee with the “Add automations”-Wizard. I did them all in YAML back then. But this isn’t necessary today. I still like to program the automations.

Never did regret this step. No progress there, long time to fix errors and a management not listening to the users. It’s a sinking ship.

If you are an experienced user go and buy a small low energy PC, bring Proxmox to it and setup HA (There is a script doing it for you). Plug a Z-Wave- and a Zigbee-USB-Stick to it, install the add-ons and integrations and see how much better it works.

If not, buy a HA Green or Yellow and have it all as easy as the homee cubes.
