I’m looking for something I can use that can remotely switch a USB power supply - this could be for charging a device or USB powered lights etc. I’m neutral on the tech that it’s based on as long as I can integrate it in HA.
The quick option is to plug the charger into a mains remote control, just wondering if there’s a more elegant solution, especially if I want to power / switch several outputs separately.
The SONOFF Zigbee Smart USB Outlet (USB 2.0 ZBMicro) is a nice device, although it requires a USB port itself to plug into. But it’s a very reliable zigbee device, and it’s an excellent repeater too.
Thismight work for you too if you’re into zigbee. I had no luck with it & it kept dropping off, but that issue only seems to affect the 3-port version. Others here have said that the 1/2 port versions are fine.
Otherwise if you don’t mind Wifi & flashing your own software, the Sinilink XY-WFUSB has been running reliably for years for me and also supports higher USB voltages for fast charging.
