Any LUX TQX/TQ1 Smart Thermostat users?

Is anyone using the new TQX Smart Thermostat or TQ1 Smart Thermostats with Home Assistant via Matter? (TQ Smart Thermostat – Lux Products) I am curious to know if the hvac actions for heating stages, AUX and cooling stages are exposed to Matter.

I just connected my Ecobee via Homekit and was disappointed to learn not only was the hvac current action not exposed as a sensor (although you can get to them via attributes) but it does not report stages or AUX - basically just heating, cooling, fan. idle.

So I just came across this thermostat a few days ago and am very interested in using it to replace my Nest thermostats. I did reach out to Lux and asked about the integration with Home Assistant and here’s their response:

"Using our TQ thermostat products with Home Assistant is a non-standard application usage and specific details cannot be provided for this type of usage.

While it may work just fine with other (untested) platforms, our primary usage model for the TQ1 and TQX models is to be controlled through the smart home ecosystems from Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings."

In a follow up email I asked what controls are available via Google Home and/or Smartthings and got this response:

"Honestly the currently available user controls that are accessible through Alexa, Apple, Google, and Samsung, are very basic and mostly limited to System Mode, Fan control, and Set Temperature. This is outside of our control and they dictate what settings are visibly shown to the user and accessed in their own ecosystem’s interfaces. We can potentially add EVERY thermostat feature that is capable on the local device to their smart home interface, if they simply allow it to be accessed.

With the above out of the way… They are all pretty much competing with each other behind the curtains, and are gradually racing each other to provide more user capability for the thermostat space, it just is not implemented yet.

EXAMPLE: I know that Apple just recently announced that the are adding more comprehensive ENERGY USAGE tools and more DEVICE integrations. I can’t imagine that their peers in the connected space are too far behind each other just to keep pace."

I may just go ahead and order one to install and see what I get. If I do, I can report back what I find.

I have a Lux CS1-02-0A and I have wanted to integrate it into home assistant for a long time. Alas no one with the reverse engineering skills seems to share my wish.

I have one that just arrived in the mail. It supports Matter, So i’ll see what I can get it to do. Stay Posted!
