Hi guys. Need some suggestion on selecting NVR platform. Currently I’m using Synology Surveillance Station, which works well but only support one camera with free license, and I plan to add more cameras to my home. I only use this NVR for recording video and replay if necessary, so it doesn’t need to have too many fancy features.
Several aspects to consider:
Cost(open source or not?)
Stability
Easy mobile access
I am using Frigate for object detection. It also support s video recording but the playback feature isn’t as nice as Synology Surveillance Station(totally understablable)
@callifo I’m using a kinda old Synology NAS(DS219j?) and some articles say that its performance will degrade with more than 4 cameras being attached. In addition, I already have a Dell R720 server in my garage so I’d like to look for something that I can deploy as a VM.
As to the cost, I don’t think Surveillance station is a great deal. Around $50 for each camera? I’d prefer something with one time payment with unlimited cameras. But still thanks for the reply.
