For sure I also don’t want to solve it using tileboard.
Only bad thing is that I just (today) bought an old ipad 3 from someone.
It’s like money thrown out of the window :-/
Need to think about whether I will give it a try or just sell the iPad again.
I have the same ipad and I replaced it with an ipad Air (but honestly even though it works on that specific ipad, it is still waaaay to slow)
Just bought a new low budget tablet for about 120 Euro on Amazon - Android 9
Works with a full screen / kiosk browser app perfectly 
I really wasn’t in the mood to create another UI for my Home assistant
