Any way to use the SD card for DB storage on HA Green?

I understand it says the SD card slot is for recovery purposes only, is there a way to override this? I am concerned about the size of my database and eMMC lifetime, have a spare SD card, and the slot is “right there”.

If not, what is the recommended solution in this case for the green. I may upgrade to yellow in the future for the M.2 slot but would like to stick with the green for now.

Note that I have a valid reason why the DB is so large and write heavy given current design limitations. Though I do plan to make a feature request around on-device aggregation support which would resolve a lot of it.

I couldn’t find a way to use the USB port, but was able to backup to a shared server folder with the Samba Share addon installed.

I’ve got the google drive backup installed, so I’m covered there. What I’d like to do is move the DB over to actively run off the SD card.

If anyone else comes across this, apparently it’s quite easy, though I could find no references or help documentation online. Go to Settings->System->Storage and click “Move Data Disk”. My SD card showed up in the dialog and it seems to “just work”.
