Hi,
I have found some devices in the ‘Witty Pi4’ family (Witty Pi 4: Realtime Clock and Power Management for Raspberry Pi | UUGear) that look like they could solve my issues with power outages.
They seem heaven sent but the code says its been tested on Raspberry OS only. Also it uses several GPIO pins which are not really supported by HAOS.
Has anybody tried using this, or similar, power management device?
My base issue is that we get a LOT of power outages here and I dont think the constant ‘crash down’ approach is doing things any good.
A conventional UPS might gracefully turn a unit OFF but if you want it too come back on when power is restored then they cant do that.
Made worse by Rpi needing to actually have its power plug removed / reinserted before it will wake up again.
BebeMischa, well - it could be 24 hours or more so that would be an expensive UPS device and without any power in the house there is nothing it can do anyway.

I am trying to protect against repeated ‘crash downs’ (caused by power outages) A UPS will / should allow gracefull shutdown but a major drawback with RPi is that there is no way no power it on again - typically its unpluged/replugged. The UPS will only do / simulate that if it runs completely flat.
I am pretty sure I curently have a corrupt SD card - at least the unit will not boot up unless some bits like Zigbee dongle are unplugged first. For this I have to physically interfere with the device. Not a good scenario.
