Anyone have a detailed guide for Duck DNS setup?

Anyone have a detailed setup of duck dns? I initially tried it when setting up my HA server. And I could not get it to work. I started using homeaccessanywhere.com which works great.

The problem I am having is being able to do subdomains, when other software is installed inside of HA. see this thread: Nginx Proxy Manager - How to use - #24 by mmstano

The docs have one.

I followed the how to from the documentation and it did not work.

What bit did not work?

This site can’t be reached

www.example.duckdns.org took too long to respond.

The browser just sits there and spins, then times out.

Needs to be https://whatever:8123

Just use Nabu Casa. Yes it is a subscription, but it just works! I never got DuckDns to work reliably.

FYI, I just flagged your post since you exposed your domain to everyone. A mod will come along & delete it shortly.

Also, I can confirm that it’s currently unreachable, even when I used the correct httpS protocol

Thanks for flagging the post. I was in a hurry when posting it.

I use home accessanywhere.com and that does the setup for you. No modification of files necessary. You install it, and input your token, and domain and you are done. I just want to do subdomains, and Duckdns seemed to be better for that.

But based on some thing I read, I can do subdomains on my end, with out needing access to the top level domain. Example: I do not own homeaccessanywhere.com
my domain to get to HA is example.homeaccessanywhere.com I can add on a server somewhere abc.example.homeaccessanywhere.com and that will work on my home servers if everything is properly set up?

The reason duck dns does not work, is because I am behind CGNAT. I just got off the phoone with my ISP. Good to know.

The dreaded CGNAT. The only way around it to get DDNS to work is to use something like CloudFlare Tunneling.
