Possibly a bit niche, my building is electric only and we’re going to finally pay for High Heat Retention Storage Radiators and use the off peak pricing to store.
Main brands I see are:

- Rointe Onyx
- Stiebel Eltron
- Elnur Ecombi
- Electrorad Thermastore
Dimplex perhaps being the most well known.
None seem to work out the box or locally very well I don’t believe, with home assistant, sadly.
But I would love to hear people’s opinions personal use of any of them?
Which ones have the “best” app outside of home assistant. In case I decide they’re too broken to integrate.
And which can I maybe install behind contactors best without fighting their software perhaps (do they have dumb modes for charging? Or power on these lines is direct to charging elements - is that what the second power line is for?).
I presume I’ll always need to app and internet for them to work, or be remotely controlled even with home assistant. Which work best offline if the internet is down?
I guess I’ll ultimately want an integration that looks at the future temperature tomorrow, and the cost of agile octopus, and decides how much to charge (taking into account how “full” it already is) and when at night cheap enough to cover how cold it is or isn’t the next day?
Which expose sensors the best?
Rointe look pretty good to me, but I presume because Dimplex are popular they might have more community support?
I’m actually a software engineer by trade, so also perhaps with the right support and group of people I could give back to the community integrations too with my own investigation or tinkering, it’s not my area of expertise mind.
