Thanks for the advice. I adjusted based on what you recommend.
Still nothing detected. Anything sleep state of the device? Is the sensor perpetually on? Do I need to restart HA for it to take effect? Thanks
Make sure that you are looking at the right sensor. There is one called something like sensor.multisensor_6_home_security_motion_sensor_status, this is not the motion sensor. By default, the motion sensor may be called “Any”. Your best bet is to check each of the entities associated with the device and see which one is triggered when motion is detected.
No worries. if it can’t be done we should move on.
I just need to set this up real quick . let me check if there is any other z-wave motion sensor. Thanks
I have 4 of these and they all work great. What is your PIR Sensor Timeout and PIR Sensitivity set to? Also, check to make sure Parameters 101 and 102 are on.
It might be working now based on the post above.
Like what you said there are 2 similar worded sensor
binary_sensor.multisensor_6_motion_detection ← does the detection ( so I wanna use this right? )
sensor.multisensor_6_motion_sensor_status ← output of the detection
not sure why they didn’t incorporate both together or this is not the normal convention whereby input and output needs to be separated. Thanks
I don’t know either. Aeotec have a habit on including many extra entities the don’t appear to have any obvious use. In my setup, I disable a lot of them including sensor.multisensor_6_motion_sensor_status.
Glad to hear it’s working for you now.
The motion sensor entity is a binary_sensor which will be on when motion is detected. If you can see the binary_sensor change state when it detects motion, then the problem is with your automation, not the multisensor.
I think it’s a config issue. Turn off “Wake Device for 10 minutes…” and set “PIR Sensor Timeout” to 20 seconds. Can you show Parameter 101 and 102?
Depending on what Parameters 101 and 102 say you may need to unplug the USB, let it sit for a few minutes and plug it back in or do a reset. Parameter 9 is read only and it says as “Asleep”, it should say “Always awake on USB power”.
