Aotec gen5 and rpi4

hi,
i connected aotec gen5 via usb3 hub to rpi4 and set it as per doc… I also added power socked that i was able to control… i have no idea what happened (i tried to reboot etc) but now even i can see the device in the list and active i cant control it … Also once plugged it blinks to all the colors constantly… not sure if thats okay… but it worked and also was blinking like that…

not sure if thats correct to have both of these addonons in same time?

OK I restarted

and it works now.

But that issue is still open:>

also i have that device > https://eurotronic.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Air-Quality-Sensor-Z-Wave-Plus_BDA-Web.pdf
And frankly i cant link it with gen5 ; that documentation seems to me as nonsense, after holding button 10sec nothing happening

when i try to press button 3x within 1sec (CRAZY?) nothing …

any idea?

Are you using a USB 3 hub or a non-powered USB2 hub? Are you using any USB3 device on the RPi like SSD storage? That can cause severe interference.

For the blinking, you can either install the latest firmware or just disable the disco lights parameter.

@RickKramer
well its usb3 hub (non powered) - why? no other device connected via usb to rpi.

that firmware can be upgraded via HA?

i upgraded via some windows tool from aeotec …

Firmware: 1.2

but once connected to rpi4 there is no light at all.

The light will only work when the device is charging with the new firmware.
Depending on whether you have the Z-Stick Gen5 or Gen5+ it doesn’t handle USB3, hence my question.

i have Gen5 (without +) ; what doesnt handle usb3? its gen5->usb3 hub->rpi4

Z-Stick Gen5 cannot handle USB3 on a Raspberry Pi 4, examples:

Pi4 && Aeotec Z-Wave USB Stick Gen5 - Page 2 - Raspberry Pi Forums

AEOTEC USB Zwave module not creating /dev/ttyACM0 · Issue #3027 · raspberrypi/linux (github.com)

And of course the release of the Z-Stick Gen5+ explicitly mentioning Raspberry Pi 4 support:
Z-Wave USB stick & antenna • Z-Stick Gen5+ • Aeotec

thats why i plugged it into usb3 hub first and it works. so i have no idea.
