Apartment-friendly toggle switch flippers?

Hey folks,

I’ve used smart bulbs for a while but they’re not the greatest for apartments, especially if the switches are turned off by accident and the lights have to be manually toggled back on half the time. Does anyone know of any friendly switch flippers for toggle switches?

I bought a Switchbot but didn’t realize they weren’t compatible since they only do rockers/buttons. I found something called a Switchmate that seemed promising as it just snaps onto the switch with magnets, but it seems like either they’re being rebranded or discontinued since they’re referred to as Clicsmart on the main site I found, and the toggle model appears out of stock.

I’ve found a couple things that require actually removing the switch cover, and those might work, but I’d rather avoid that if I can. Are there any Switchbot-like things that work for toggles?

Thanks.

The simplest solution imo for toggle style switches is to just put in a relay behind them and remove it when you move out.

This way you can just keep the power on to the smart bulb via its decoupled mode and have the physical switch just toggle the virtual switch state for the automation to turn it on and off.

I haven’t used them myself, but you might take a look at the Lutron Aurora button/dimmer/covers. They’re a bit pricey, but not too bad compared with a Switchbot… and, IMO, they’re significantly nicer aesthetically compared to the Switchbot. There are a few blueprints for them in the blueprint exchange.
