If I install the HA Android app, it seems that this is a wrapper for the Web GUI. Maybe im wrong, but if so, what is the benefit of using the app over the Web GUI?
A ton of mobile sensors (including location), for a start. Mobile notifications too.

Many thx, this makes sense. I will do so. I haven’t even thought about the smartphone sensors yet.
yup can do a ton like i use it to turn on/off hvac before i arrive/leave a wide zone around my home ect. Can also monitor your family location to irl for the young ones so for instance if their not at school at certain time triggers automation or notification ect.
