Recently, I set up a new/clean instance of HA on the proxmox server running my previous version. For some reason the new HA installation does not discover apple devices (appleTV or HomePods). But the old one does.
I tried to manually set up 2 different Apple TVs. When I type in the ip address, it goes through the set up of asking for the 4 digit pin. The tv responds with them and it appears that it is set up. Except it never shows up as a configured device. Just for kicks I tried manually adding it back it. It goes through the process correctly again, but never shows up as a configured device.
I have no idea why they are discovered on one VM but not the other. Obviously it is something in the configuration of the new install but I have no idea where to look.
For reference:
Both the new and old HA are running on the same proxmox server.
My network does not have separate VLANS and all devices are in the same subnet.
All of these devices (except HomePods) have static ip addresses and connected via ethernet.
The new HA vm is running the latest version, the old one hasn’t been updated since December.
Firewalla gold router and Aruba instanton for network switches and wifi access points (AP22).
I just got HA today on a raspberry pi, and I initially thought it was something I did. Good to hear someone else has the same issue, hopefully HA fixes this glitch… (Along with the one with iRobot Roomba Connectivity which is also having issues)
Thanks for mentioning it isn’t just me. I have a theory I am going to test today. If my results come back the way I think they will, I will post them here.
Hopefully someone else also chimes in with some deeper insight.
Since my HA installs are on a proxmox server, I cloned the old one and did all the updates so they are now both running the same version. I wasn’t sure if that would explain why the new one isn’t seeing apple devices on the network.
After doing all the updates, the old one still sees apple devices, the new one does not. So I can rule out that it is a purely related to both OS or Core. It has to be something else.
Up until now, I have only been looking at disabled… not ignored. Once I clicked that…
¡Voila!
There they are. Thanks for your help. I can’t believe it was this easy, but on the other hand, this saves me from hours of work (as I was considering redoing things again).
