Apple TV tvOS 16

Not thinking, I updated my home theater Apple TV to tvOS 16 last night and realized this morning that it broke the HA integration.

Are there plans to update the integration for Apple TV to support the new OS? If so, is there an ETA. Its a minor annoyance, so happy to wait it out.

Since tvOS 16 is still in beta, it will probably be after it’s officially released.

What is not working?

Everything. I’ve confirmed that the IP is correct.

After the upgrade, HA appears to no longer communicate. I deleted it and tried to adding it back but it not able to find the IP. I’ve verified on the AppleTV that the IP is still correct (DHCP reservation).

And as I literally hit the reply button, the box showed up in discovery…

  1. Deleted the integration/device from HA
  2. Rebooted the Apple TV

I had rebooted the Apple TV a couple of times prior to removing it from HA.

Would it be possible for you to install pyatv and perform as scan (atvremote scan)? I suspect they Home Assistant fails to find a service. Perhaps apple has changed something again…

Any news here now that tvOS came out earlier this week? The Apple TV would like to update every time I start it, but before I do that I want to be sure that Home Assistant still works with tvOS 16.

I didn’t have any issues and have 4 Apple TV’s. All updated to tvOS16 and the ha integration is working fine.

Rebooted my AppleTV tvOS 14.0.2 to clear memory and now its gone in Home Assistant 2022.9.6.
It worked for months without any problem.

Removed integration, reboot HA… discovered AppleTV add 4 pairs of numbers and again I get message:

Initializing

and then

Retrying setup: Not found at 192.168.100.14, waiting for discovery

Then try to reboot my AppleTV to see if it will discovered correct but the error is still there.

I don’t know it this was helping me.

Updated my AppleTV to tvOS16. I also removed ALL the ptav remotes (there were 16) and rebooted AppleTV and HA

Reconfigured mt AppleTV by Discovery and now its working again.
Didn’t try to reboot AppleTV and/or HA to see what happen.
