Will be a while prob until a quirk is added for this one, just keep an eye on things in the mean time.
The Aqara FP1E is ZIGBEE not Thread and only works via Matter with the AQARA hub. It will not work on a Thread border router. At the moment there are no device drivers for it in Home Assistant to use Zigbee directly, but I am sure that will change soon.
The P2 is a completely different device to the FP1e .
Give it a couple of months and I am sure it will be in Home Assistant via ZHA or Z2M or both. It will rely on the developers either getting specs from Aqara or getting their hands on a device, and a lot of device drivers are still added by volunteers, so it depends on available time too.
I guess someone could start a feature request for it if one doesn’t already exist
For me, the Fp1e works much better than the fp2. Creating the dead zones on the Fp2 is a pain and didn’t work here. I have the washing machine and dryer in the laundry room. When both were working, no matter what I did with the Fp2, I always had a presence message when the washing machine was spinning, for example.
Now it was the same with the fp1e, then I let the ki training run during washing and now the sensor only very rarely triggers under washing conditions. Very good part, unfortunately without brightness sensor but that’s okay
Please allow me a dumb question: will the FP1E (or the FP1 for that matter) act as a zigbee router for the zigbee network? I’m starting my adventures in the zigbee world and I’m trying to educate myself to be able to make wise choices. Or at least avoid the very stupid ones
Edit: I can wait until it gets supported in ZHA.
Thanks.
In ZHA, FP1 does not act like a router. So I assume, FP1E will be the same.
the are down to $99 with free shipping from WA now, just brought two before reading this thread.
Confirmed, end device only. Bummer, will need to use repeaters.
Support for the P1E is WIP in both ZHA and Z2M.
Let’s hope they get to finish it soon.
Cheers
As an FP1 owner, this really seems like an FP1 with updated software. I thought they had gotten the ZigBee radio in the FP1 with matter over IPv6 which is why the M2 public supported but as someone stood above it’s just working with matter through zigbee.
I would really like to see the two taking apart and compared I’m wondering if there’s any differences at all. The FP1 has 60Mhz mmwave, 120 FOV and detection at 5 meters, has the same base, metal magnet for the bottom, and attached cable which was universally hated on the FP1. It was also only released in China although easily to get from AliExpress.
I honestly think the fp1e is an fp1 with new software. The only difference appears to be 5 meters for the FP1 and 6 for the FP1E. That could be done through software improvements. I just don’t understand how the 16 dollars US difference for the FP2 currently on Amazon. SO many more features. The FP1 works in Zigbee2mqtt and it took time but see what the open source community did for the FP1 over time. It works remarkably well also. I hated the FP1 when I first got it because of false positives. Not anymore.
Pretty sure Aqara could do software development on the FP1 and just not release it. It was only technically released in China. Just saying, until I see a hardware breakdown just my 2 cents. I could easily be wrong but EVERYTHING is the same.
I wouldn’t expect anything out of ZHA but presence detection. The FP1 only has the presence/occupancy department It did take the Z2M team a good year, year and a half to just add them, much less fine tune them to work accurately.
Feature support Detection regions (configuration) Device allows to add up to 10 detection regions, each composed of any number of zones in a 4x7 detection grid, visualized below:
Region upsert
Definition of a new region to be added (or replace existing one). Creating or modifying a region requires you to define which zones of a 7x4 detection grid should be active for that zone. Regions can overlap, meaning that a zone can be defined in more than one region (eg. “zone x = 1 & y = 1” can be added to region 1 & 2). “Zone x = 1 & y = 1” is the nearest zone on the right (from sensor’s perspective, along the detection path).Zones

Hi guys, where do you position the fp1e?
On the top ceiling corner?
Trying to find the best spot for continuous presence detection especially when lying on the bed
I’ve activated the ai spatial learning so ceiling fans don’t trigger it but might require a few more to get it right.
Yup, I spotted this too and invested in the FP2 when they were £66 in the UK …I must say I’m impressed … The light sensor is very accurate which makes them bundle far more appealing than the FP1E
I picked up one of these FP1E sensors from Amazon. I do not have an Aqara M3 Hub but was hoping I could use it with HA anyway. I can pair it as a Zigbee device but it’s not functional. My questions are:
I don’t want to buy the $200 M3 hub.
Thanks,
Lane
Works now with z2m
