I have an Aqara FP2 Sensor and I was wondering if it is possible to manage the sensor with Home Assistant when the sensor is not connected to the same local network of Home Assistant.
Because I want to buy another one for my grandma and put it somewhere in here house. Then I don’t want to manage it with the Aqara app but with my Home Assistant at my house. But you can only add the intergration with Homekit
Probably not. If you had two separate VLANs on your local network there are some things you can do to get the discovery stuff working across them, but none of the Apple HomeKit stuff is designed to work across the internet. Everything I can think of that might work would involve so much effort that you’re probably better off just sucking it up and using the Aqara app.
Yeah, this would squarely be in the realm of setting up a site-to-site VPN between the houses to extend your internal network to grandma’s and then sticking the Aqara sensor on that network.
