I’m curious if anyone else is experiencing a high failure rate with Aqara sensors and switches?
In the last year, I have had 5 humidity/temperature sensors, and 2 mini switches fail. Not just fall off the network, but completely unresponsive, i.e. I can’t even put the devices in pairing mode to try and pair them again to Phoscon. I’ve swapped out the batteries, tried multiple brands of batteries, and nothing.
I have approximately 30 Aqara devices, so that is still a nearly 25% failure rate.
Has anyone else experienced these issues, or am I just incredibly unlucky with my Aqara devices? Are there more reliable humidity sensors that I should consider?
Are there alter
I had some issues mostly with Aqara temperature sensors for a while, same as you describe: even a battery replacement wouln’t help. Only changing the channel in the controller and adding all sensors back to the network helped for a few days or weeks.
When I had problems adding Aqara vibration sensors and failed completely to add two IKEA buttons to the network I had enough and bought a new controller - it’s been rock-solid since.
Just saying, it might not be the Aqara sensors themselves that are causing you problems.
I actually tried that a few weeks ago, in an attempt to improve responsiveness of my other zigbee devices, changed from channel 15 to 20, but that made a lot of my other devices lose connectivity and I had to re-pair so many devices.
You also experienced the issue of the devices not being able to pair, i.e. the blue light just doesn’t flash when holding down the pair button?
Correct, I had that issue as well - as soon as the device dropped off the network there was a good chance that I wouldn’t be able to pair it again without changing the channel.
And the fact that every Aqara device seems to have a different approach toward initiating the pairing process, i.e. how long to press the button and what the blinking sequence would be after pressing the button for the correct time period, didn’t help either
With the new controller I have all devices back online that previously had some issues - and then some.
So I figured out my issue, and I feel like an idiot but I hope if ever anyone else experiences the same issue, they’ll find this thread.
What happened in my case is that the devices were falling off the network, and instead of trying to re-pair, I would remove the battery and reconnect it, as that’s worked for me in the past.
When replacing the battery, first of all the “+” sign should be facing up, but also the battery has to be clipped in with the little gold connector and not sitting on top of it
