quick question… how do you know that it work or it fail after 24hrs?
If it stays on the same status (movement detected or not) for more than 5 secs. then it is not working. The usual is that you will see the sensor stays on “not detected” for at least 1 minute. That means the hack is not working.
I’ve done hack on one of these (buyed some weeks ago) and it seems not to work anymore. I’m going crazy Impossible to retrigger movement until after approx 1 minute…
I’ve received two units this week. After done the pencil hack on both, one of them is working and the other not (I have re-done the hack on this one, but no luck). I don’t know where to find the batch production mentioned here to check.
A new model will be released, the XIAOMI AQARA - ZigBee 3.0 Aqara Motion Sensor P1 MS-S02
Configurable Detection Timeout
Finally, the detection timeout can be configured without any hardware modding. Just set any timeout from 1 to 200 seconds, confirm by pressing the device button, and the P1 won’t be stuck for one minute, like before. (Please note: decreasing the detection timeout leads to shorter battery life)
Adjustable Sensitivity
The user can configure how sensitive the sensor will be. Three sensitivity modes (high, medium and low), refer to the distance the sensor will be triggered from, which can help to reduce false alarms and make installation more flexible.
Too bad that I ordered 3 old models produced on 21/11 or the hack doesn’t work.
It’s printed onto the packaging, not the sensor.
Thanks.
Well, the ones i´ve mentioned on my earlier post are both 01.2021 and, as i´ve said, one is working with the pencil hack, while another doesn´t work, so i don´t know what to think about the production batch “issue” described.
You got two sensor from 01.2021 in 2022? Interesting, where did you get these? Despite that, I would do a proper soldering instead of “drawing a trace with a pencil”.
What’s the cooldown time on the sensor that does not work?
Yes. I bougth them on Aliexpress, but there’s hundred of vendors so maybe it’s a lottery…
The one that isn’t “working” it resets motion status on 5 seconds, but then stays on “no motion detected” for 60 seconds.
Edit: Here’s the aliexpress link:
I’ve one with production date of 2021.11, which is working for me with pencil hack. I bought it in EU market and the box itself has no chinese language like Aliexpress ones.
Never got EU ones, maybe they didn’t get any. Tbh, I don’t know then. I also got some Ali one’s with date of 11.2021 lying around, will try modding them these days.
60s seems to be the “new” sensor. The old one’s had a cooldown of 120 Seconds, afaik. This seem to be the only real indicator if the sensor is mod’able or not.
So that does mean that if the hack doesn’t work there’s nothing to do?
I got 4 from ali, tried the hack on 3 of them with conductive glue and only worked in one of them, 60s cooldown in the others.
All of them 2021.11 in the box
Yes, at the moment there’s nothing to do as far as we know.
The new Aqara P1 is starting available outside China. It has a specific setting in the Xiaomi home app for adjusting the timeout interval, from 1 to 200 secs. (no hardware mod required). Will have to wait until other bridges add compatibility if we don’t have the Xiaomi bridge, but I think is a big update.
I ordered one today and checked in zigbee 2 mqtt docs.
They say you can set both the delay and the timeout, isn’t it working?
I’m meant to get it on Saturday so if it’s unknown I’ll confirm it then either way
Thing is I don’t know what to do now with the ones with a minute cool down, not sure how I could use them properly
If it’s possible by sending an event from the hub to the device, it must be possible to trace it right? And then use it with hardware like deconz
Check it out here, they say it’s possible with Z2M
I have the hardware modified now my problem is where can I change the occupancy_timeout
? I use Z2Mqtt
- Open the web interface for Zigbee2MQTT.
- Pick from menu “Devices” (Geräte).
- Click on the name of the referring device.
- Click on the menu “Settings (specific)” (Einstellungen (spezifisch)).
- Scroll down to find the field for setting “occupancy_timeout”.
