Yeah, it could definitely be the case if you have no repeaters at that end of the network. Certainly worth trying, particularly since you can pick up ZigBee smart plugs for fairly cheap. You can always get one from Amazon and return it if it doesn’t help. The Sonoff smart plugs are cheap and work well.
I was looking at the Sonoff S40 smart plug, they are on sale at Amazon at the moment.
Any experience with those?
I have one(S40 plug). Seems to have a pretty strong signal. A few devices have rerouted through it that I would not have expected based on geography.
No issues so far.
The strange thing is that i paired the motion sensor in the place i wanted to use. So in the room farthest away from the zigbee hub, and it connected almost instantly, way faster than all my other aqara sensors.
But then it doesn’t behave at all as expected. If i then move the sensor closer by and leave it for a bit it works as expected
Did you have to do anything special to make the Sonoff S40 smartplug work with home assistant?
Like flashing it, or does it just work now?
I have the NORTEK Zigbee controller and use ZHA in home assistant
I had a couple of Sonoff S26 plugs, with Conbee II and ZHA, they worked fine out of the box. Eventually though, I just had all my in wall power sockets replaced with ZigBee ones, and now there are no issues with network reach anywhere in the house
The S40 is standards compliant, so will work out of the box with any ZHA version from recent history.
Z2M users need to be on 1.26 (July 2022 release) or later. Alternatively, older z2m versions just need an external converter installed.
have you ever get this to work?
i have the same issue i doesnt get the new settings and the sensor 10 times.
I can’t seem to find a definitive answer so I am hoping someone who owns this thing can advise. Does this sensor report changes in lux without motion? I am looking to use it to drive non-motion based triggers like closing shades and turning on exterior lights where motion won’t be a factor. I’d like to use this if possible and not give Hue my money.
@justint223 I’m looking at my chart history on the Lux values and from what I can see yes the Lux is being reported without having to detect motion first.
Awesome, thanks for checking. Is it something similar to the Hue at ~5 min intervals?
Hmm, I only have 1 and it’s in a room that has the shades pulled shut much of the time and sporadic entrance, it’s my young son’s bedroom. Looking at the history the graph is very much all over the place so it’s hard to tell what the update interval might be
Thanks, appreciate you taking the time.
one thing more, i found out if the device intergrated in a automatisation it´s also doesnt work, swich off the automatisation, wake up the device, change the settings and push the button again! After it works great and keep the setting.
I just bought 5 of these and i’m able to pair them with Z2M but I don’t get a reading (results). Anyone had this problem and found a solution ?
Is there any fix for the unknown battery?
It used to work but stopped after a re-pairing
Hi. How did you get work the P1 sensor? I am on z2m edge with Sonoff 3.0 dongle but did not find any solution to have the sensor in HA. Thank you.
That would be very important to me too:
Does the P1 update its illuminance sensor entity
a. independently of a detected motion and
b. based on a fix interval or once a lux change has been detected (so probably even every few seconds)?
Up to now (in combination with the former RTCGQ11LM) I had to use the GZCGQ01LM which work really great, but well - extra device, extra costs, extra battery, extra maintenance, …
Hi. I just installed the p1 sensor but I’m not getting the configuration sensors. I cant find the option to change the interval period.
I already did some workarounds mentioned here like remove and re-pair but still didn’t get configuration options. any suggestion?
OS version11.2
Core Version: 2023.12.13
thank you
