It’s been awhile since I done anything with HA after installing a new router, which caused countess problems.
Anyway I’ve had to reinstall an Aqara Motion sensor, but i’m having some issues with putting the original settings onto the new device. Instead of it showing “clear or Detected”, it’s showing the light levels in lx, and I can’t find a way to change this.
I still have the original setting for the pir prior to installing the router.
Can I ask for some help in getting the existing setting onto the newly reinstalled device?
When I went to Settings, Devices & Services, Deconz, Entities, clicked the new device then the cog;
The entity stated sensor., when I wanted it to state binary_sensor.
Is this the problem?
Then choose the integration that you use to connect the motion sensor to HA. In my case, its via ZHA, but it could be Zigbee2MQTT, or via an Aqara specific integration, which I think is called Xiaomi
Then choose your device from the list of devices, and you’ll end up with a page that should look something like this (this is the ZHA version):
I changed the name of the sensor to be the same as the previous, as I have automations linked to the sensor. The only difference is the binary_sensor vs sensor, which I can’t find away to change?
The old sensor, I changed the name to be Kitchen PIR x, so I could call the new installation the same as the old sensor.
There are two sensors. The binary sensor is the motion. The other sensor is the illuminance value. It looks like you have the motion sensor disabled. Instead of clicking on the cog, click on the three dots and select device info. The device should have both entities listed. It might say ‘+1 entities not shown’ or something similar. That means that an entity is disabled.
I’ve just tried what @nickgeorge333 suggested, and this has fixed the issue.
I was under the impression that my “Kitchen PIR x”, that this was the old sensor, that I’d renamed by putting an ‘x’ on the end and purposely disabled it, thus having the old sensor and the new sensor both showing.
