Hello, I purchased an Aqara smoke detector connected through ZHA.
I apologize in advance if something I say it isn’t accurate, I’m newbie on this
Everything is updated to the latest firmware version. And the smoke detector works fine (I force the alarm for example by forcing smoke close to it). My problem is that if I run any action from HA, although it executes, for example, running the alarm or setting Mute, the device becomes unavailable in HA, and I had to remove it an pair it again. (Reconfiguration does not work either)
Any clue about what might be happening?
Thanks in advance
PS: I have like other 15 devices connected working without issues
Got the same issue. Aqara smoke detector joins and interviews successfully and all entities are visible in HA, then about 24 hours after the initial join, it goes offline and is unavailable until I re-pair. Repeated the process multiple times with no change. About 20 other Aqara and Tuya devices remain joined to the network with no issues, its just this device.
I’m not using an Aqara hub, i’m using a Sonoff 3.0 USB Zigbee dongle and the smoke detector is about 4 feet away from it so it isnt due to a lack of signal.
Late to the party… Do you know if connecting them directly to home assistant (Not using the Aqara hub) lets you connect them all so if one goes off they all go off? Or would that need to be done via automations?
I’m a little uncomfortable relying on home assistant being up rather than using their dongle that I assume plugs in to a power socket? Wonder if it’s best to connect them to the Awara hub then connect the Awara hub to home assistant so even if home assistant is down, they would all go off together?
Via automations, as explained in the link in the post immediately above yours.
You run the same risk irrespective of whether you link them via a HA automation or via the Aqara hub. The Aqara hub is just as likely to be down as your HA installation, so your discomfort isn’t necessarily addressed by having a separate piece of hardware running 24/7.
… if I run any action from HA, although it executes, for example, running the alarm or setting Mute, …
This interesting, so you can set off the alarm without the Aqara hub? I have read on several occasions that the alarm cannot be triggered without an Aqara hub.
