Aqara T1 LED strip light

Got one of these thanks to Stu’s reviews. Will a HA ZMQTT support be introduced soon, or am I best to bite the bullet and buy the Aqara Hub? I’ve managed so far without the hub, but it was all well established devices I was buying. This one seems a bit bleeding edge.

I assume you mean Zigbee2MQTT?

You can request devices be added to Zigbee2MQTT at their github project or learn how to do it yourself.

The Home Assistant team has no control over this.

I don’t know what you mean with bleeding edge, but (for all people looking for advice) I got it working with a Conbeestick and ZHA. Immediately discovered and can be steered with a nice default button including colors. Can make it part of automation via service “light turn on” as shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvwlJptVOZI&t=76s. aqaraT1button

ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT implementations do not work exactly the same say, hence need device request.

FYI, ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT implementations have different upsides and downsides, and one of the upsides to ZHA is that devices that follow the Zigbee specification and use the standard clusters and attributes from the ZCL will just work without the need for a device handler/converter, while Zigbee2MQTT in practice always require a device device converter/handler. For ZHA read https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha#knowing-which-devices-are-supported and https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha#how-to-add-support-for-new-and-unsupported-devices

HI Hedda, thanks for adding this explanation. The Zigbee2MQTT sounds too advanced for my needs. I spend a lot of time on this forum and, more often than not, it is too technical for me. I could not really find information on this ledstrip and just bought it. Happy it worked flawlessly with ZHA/Conbee and just wanted to share that.

Hi, with your solution, is it possible to individually adress the segments of the led strip? : )

It helped me, thank you.

I’m thinking about investing in a couple of these, but obviously only if it’s going to work with ZHA. Can anyone confirm that these strips (plus extension) are fully compatible now? I’m also interested in configuring the strip in gradient mode, is this possible in ZHA? - I have a single Hue Gradient already, but must be connected to the Hue Bridge for gradients, and I want to get away from that, if possible.
